Description of awareness programme

DNBS, Thiruvananthapuram conducted an investor awareness programme at Munnar Grama Panchayat, Idukki District on February 25, 2016. The programme, was attended by around 300 kudumbasree members, representing several Kudumbashree units in the Panchayat. The participants were informed about RBI’s financial literacy initiatives. Further, they were briefed on RBI's role in regulation and supervision of Non-Banking Financial Companies operating in the State. The participants were cautioned not to deposit their hard earned money with unincorporated bodies. They were also sensitized about fraudulent/ponzi/pyramid schemes, fictitious lottery offers through calls/SMS/e-mails, features of genuine currency notes, exchange of soiled/mutilated notes, banking ombudsman scheme, education loan scheme, etc. Financial literacy brochures on NBFCs were distributed among the participants.
